HITS + HELL NOs (Vol. 1)

So, if I’m being perfectly honest, I’ve been shopping way too f*cking much lately.

Right now you’re probably saying to yourself, “Shoot, girl, tell us something we don’t already know…”

And, okay, you have a point.

But, this is different from all the other times I’ve nonchalantly blown my Benjamins at a rapid rate.

Why? Because this time I’m actually admitting that I’ve been especially excessive with my purchases and need to seriously chill. Like, yesterday.

Now, realistically, will that happen?

My wallet sure as hell hopes so, but it’s just too soon to tell for sure.

What can I say? Old habits die hard.

Oh well. In the grand scheme of things, all of my compulsive buying really just benefits you guys in the long run because it means product reviews on product reviews.

And who doesn’t appreciate a good product review?

I mean, had I, myself, read up on a few more of the products I recently bought on a whim, I definitely wouldn’t have purchased some of the items I’m about to talk about.

Then again, what fun would a “hits and misses” post be without some serious “HELL NOs” in the mix?

Luckily for you, I’ve come across a little bit of everything over the past month.

That being said, enough beating around the bush.

Y’all ready for the good, the bad, and the ugly?

Unique Muscle SLIM IT Unicorn Water Pack

For those of you who follow me on social media, you know damn well how obsessed I’ve been with Unique Muscle’s Unicorn Water.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Essentially, what makes Unicorn Water, well, Unicorn Water, is the SLIM IT Watermelon Fat Metabolizer.

This pink powder actually assists to burn fat in some of the body’s most stubborn areas by both metabolizing and using the stored fat as energy.

Now, for a caffeine addict like myself, I have to say this stuff has completely changed my morning routine.

Thirty minutes before I have breakfast, I mix a ½ teaspoon of the SLIM IT powder (which tastes exactly like a watermelon Jolly Rancher) into my Unicorn Water bottle (which is cute AF and comes with the pack). I give it a good shake to dissolve all of the powder, and I’m good to go.

The Unicorn Water gives me such a great boost of energy in the AM, that I’ve been skipping my coffee and/or Rockstar Energy drinks (this one is my weakness) completely.

Totally unheard of in the world of Kaitlin.

Personally, I’m a big fan of this product, and can’t wait to try more from Unique Muscle.

Collagen Peptides

This brand offers various products, such as protein powders, supergreens, and a teatox (love), that are all gluten free, non GMO, and naturally sweetened. Some of these products are actually vegan as well.

Unique Muscle even includes a free download of their “12 WEEK LEAN UP Healthy Eating Guide,” which I’m living for, when you order the Unicorn Water pack.
So, go. Go now and getcha some. (Oh, and, while you’re at it, pick up some of Sports Research’s Collagen Peptides to mix into your pretty pink morning cocktail. Trust.).

Nair Moroccan Argan Oil Glides Away

First, I have to just stress that I have NEVER been a Nair fan (or Veet, or any other cream hair remover out there really), so I’m not sure what planet I was on when I thought this experience would be any different from my previous run-ins with Nair products…because it was not.

Maybe it was the appealing deodorant stick shape of this product that tricked me into buying it, or maybe I was just desperately trying to de-fuzz my body now that it’s summertime.

All I know is that I’ll never buy it again.

Nair is Nair, and the first thing every chick knows about Nair is that it smells absolutely horrible.

You’d think over the last 80 years that Nair products have been around, they would have found a way to conceal that God-awful smell, but nope.

Whatever. The smell was honestly the least of my concerns.

Originally, I thought it would be easier to use this product than bottled Nair since it claimed to be a “touch-free way to remove hair,” but, honestly, I still found myself using my hands to ensure the application was even.

I used it on my underarms, as it is advertised to be “perfect for” on the Nair website.

HUGE mistake.

I don’t care what anyone says, that shit burns like a motha and you couldn’t catch me putting it anywhere near my bikini area.

I definitely have sensitive skin, but I could barely keep it on for the full 10 minutes recommended for coarser hair (which, being Italian AF, I am “blessed” with).

Not to mention I didn’t really notice a difference in terms of the nourishing and moisturizing benefits in comparison to the original formula either.

And, to put the icing on the cake, when I wiped it off, all of my hair was still there.

I literally do not think I wiped away a single hair. Dope.

Ugh, who knows, maybe for those of you who don’t have thick hair or sensitive skin, Nair products are a hit, but, unfortunately for me, the consensus on this product is a HELL NO.

Bikini Zone Medicated Creme

It’s only right to give credit where credit is due, and, in regards to this product, a few of my girls deserve it all.

Medicated Creme

I really only started using the Bikini Zone cream because these ladies swore by it, and they’ve definitely made me a believer as well.

As I mentioned, I’m Italian, and that genetically thick, coarse body hair ain’t no joke. Especially in the bikini region.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with bumps down there after shaving or waxing.

It seems like no matter what I do I just can’t shake them.

Thankfully, though, I was introduced to this product to help calm that storm.

After shaving/waxing, apply the Medicated Cream to your bikini area.

I won’t lie, if you shave, it might sting just a tad at first, but it absorbs quickly so the pain doesn’t last long at all.

The cream instantly starts to help with the appearance of bumps and redness, which is a total confidence booster not only during swimsuit season, but all year round as well.

I know I’ll definitely be packing this baby on every vacay from this point forward, and so should you if you suffer from regular irritation after shaving or waxing.

Curve Control Bust Plus Bra

Okay, so I know y’all have seen this bra before because, let’s be real, it’s been spamming our Insta feeds for weeks now.

And, if you’re anything like me, you probably scrolled right past the video ad a time or two before actually stopping to watch.

Although, I have to admit, once I finally watched the video, I was intrigued.

I mean, we all know the strapless bra struggle. Yes, they might satisfy the “no strap” requirement, but they definitely don’t meet the cleavage standards.

Strapless bras just don’t do the girls justice. Plain and simple. And, I’m sorry, but good cleavage can often be your best accessory.

So, after some digging around the Internet, I said, “What the hell,” added the Bust Plus Bra to my cart, and called it a day.

At this point, I figured any attempt at stepping up the cleavage game was a good attempt, but I didn’t really get my hopes up too high.

However, after trying the bra out for the first time, I was really impressed.

This sucker really did hoist up the melons. It was CRAZY sticky, so it stayed in place well, and the drawstring clip didn’t budge or loosen the whole night.

I was pleasantly surprised by this product, and could not wait to wear it again.

Unfortunately, it was wearing the bra again that revealed the product’s only significant flaw in my eyes.

Even though I washed the bra with mild soap and water (as recommended by Curve Control) after my first use, it lost a lot of its stickiness the second time around.

I could already feel the outer edges of the bra pulling away from my chest, which was definitely a bummer. But, nevertheless, it still gave me pretty good support and the desired amount of cleavage overall.

I’ve worn the bra about five times now, and it’s still slightly sticky, but I can’t wear it all day, especially if I think I might sweat.

The website says that some users were able to get up to 50 uses out of their bras, though I, personally, don’t think mine will last for more than 10 uses (10 might even be pushing it).

So, would I say it’s worth the money?

For minimal use, yes. If you’re looking for a long-term investment, however, I would recommend you either don’t waste your time or buy multiple.

The bra comes in nude and black, so maybe if you buy both colors, switching off between the two, you’ll have better luck.

Glossier Balm Dotcom, Lip Gloss, and Super Pure

So, I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I can honestly say I love all three of these products, and I am slowly but surely becoming obsessed with Glossier as a brand in general.

Glossier’s Balm Dotcom lip and skin salve is amazing. I’m living for the rose flavor right now.

Balm Dotcom

The balm is extremely hydrating, long-lasting, and comes in five different flavors (original, rose, cherry, mint, or coconut).

You can really use this stuff anywhere. Obviously it’s great for the lips, but you can also put it on chapped elbows, knees, you name it. It definitely helps to lock in  moisture.
The Lip Gloss, too, is a must. I mean, talk about poppin’, girl!

Lip Gloss

The glassy shine is top-notch, and there is no gluey feeling, stickiness, or gritty glitter mixed in. Not to mention the gloss is lightweight and packed with Vitamin E.

Let’s just say you need this gloss in your life.

Likewise, if you’re someone with acne prone skin, you’ll dig Super Pure too.

This water-gel serum contains niacinamide and zinc, which help to soothe redness and lessen the appearance of blemishes.

It is meant to flush out impurities, refill deficiencies, and strengthen your skin.

I’ve been relying on this serum a lot during my period when I frequently break out, and it helps quite a bit, especially with taming the redness and inflammation.

Overall, I’m calling all three of these products HITS.

Tinkle Razor

First, can we just take a minute to appreciate the fact that this brand is called “Tinkle”…

I’m a child. I know.

Okay, second, I’ll admit that I threw this product in this month’s review last-minute even though I’m kind of still in the experimental phase with it.

I know these facial razors are all the rage right now, but I just don’t really get the hype.

Tinkle Razors

Personally, I haven’t had the best experience with these little guys.

I’ve been using these things off and on for years, whether it’s for touching up my eyebrows or shaving my face (yes, I said shaving my face – read up on it here), and I just don’t know how I feel.

One day, I like them, the next my skin gets super irritated. IDK, guys…I guess I just feel like they don’t do anything a normal razor doesn’t do?

Not to mention regular razors at least have a moisturizing strip for us sensitive skinned gals…

I’m honestly still on the fence, but, hey, try them out and let me know what you think!

As of now, though, they’re more of a HELL NO than a HIT.

KKW x KYLIE Créme Liquid Lipstick Collection

So, I’ve wanted to write a review on this collection since I first tried it (even though it’s now sold out on Kylie Cosmetics), but I just couldn’t decide how I felt about the formula for a while.

The crème formulation is different from both the mattes and velvets in the Kylie Cosmetics line, so I had to use the collection a few times before I could give you my honest opinion.

KKW x KYLIE Créme Liquid Lipstick Collection

Basically, these lipsticks aren’t meant to be long-lasting by any means, falling somewhere between a lipstick and a gloss, so expect to reapply constantly when you wear them.

I really don’t mind having to reapply them frequently, though, because I love that the formula isn’t overly drying like the long-wear mattes.

The color range of this four-piece set is great too. I mean, I’m all about a good nude.

Kimberly and Kim are my favorite shades as they are more true nudes, whereas Kiki and Kimmie have pinker undertones.

Left to Right: Kimberly, Kim, Kiki, Kimmie

The best thing about these colors is that they actually look good on lighter skin tones.

I feel like many of the Kylie shades require darker, or at least bronzed, skin in order to pull them off, but I’m happy to report that even my pasty white self can get away with wearing all four of these shades.

I have, however, found that the formula can be a bit streaky at first, but it’s very buildable. In other words, it’s nothing an extra layer or two can’t fix.

Overall, I’m a fan of the KKW x KYLIE collection, and I hope Kylie continues to add more great neutral shades to her collection.

P.S. I know the collection is currently unavailable on the Kylie Cosmetics website, but if you really want to try it, I suggest eBay. Click here to see what’s available.

Alrighty, kiddos, that just about does it for my first HITS and HELL NOs.

If you enjoyed this post, give it a like and let me know so we can do it again next month after I splurge on more random crap.
